first day of summer

it's the first day of summer here. warm summer nights are a rarity and when they happen (at the end of august usually), people line the streets all day and night. delores park is filled with 20-somethings that bring blankets and booze to celebrate. if only there was a machine that could capture this weather and set it on repeat.

i haven't seen this many naked limbs in months.

perception

it works in interesting ways. the mere fact that we are always and forever, unable to escape subjection binds us to our own realities. therefore, we are perpetually lost in our own minds and hearts and no matter what the "truth" is, we will always find ways around it, to tell little lies that either gives us hope or tears us down. you choose what you want to see and hear, choose what you want to consider meaningful and edit your life so that there is a reality that has been created by you and you alone. the occurrences in your life turn out to be a sort of fiction, making it almost impossible to remove yourself from the world you've manifested so well.

this idea is disarming.

pretending

hiding, pretending, and lying is all very hard work. it takes skill, quickness, patience, a great poker face, a steady hand and heart, and a beautiful fake smile to keep yourself in control. nod your head, even when you don't want to hear the truth. inquire, even though you probably don't want to know. act like it doesn't mean a thing, even when you want to cover your ears. turn on that brave face, even when it hurts.

the truth is as hard to keep up as the fiction.

too much or too little?

is it better to oversleep or undersleep? undersleeping causes impairment in the body and the mind. oversleeping causes grogginess and strange sex dreams. undersleeping cannot be fixed with coffee. oversleeping cannot be fixed by orgasm.

it is suggested that we get seven to nine hours of sleep per night. six hours may cause you to crash your car while driving, while ten hours may cause pregnancy.

there's something warm and fuzzy about hanging out in delores park with bi-rite ice cream in hand (on a foggy summer day). the fact that they'll be closing it for landscaping is soo very atrocious. where will all the dogs expel their energy? where will the hipsters go to drink their pabsts and smoke their j's? where will voyeuristic couples make out? this is very worrisome.
